Obesity
Posted by admin on March 27th, 2007 filed in Diet GeneralOver 1 billion of the world’s population shows signs of being overweight or obese. Unfortunately overweight people now outnumber the amount of people who are starving. Obesity is a disease and taking lives. At least 300,000 people in United States have died from Obesity. To this day with all the deaths contributed to obesity, the government has not stepped in and taken some responsibility regarding health care.
Healthcare costs for obesity are increasing and yearly cost approximately $100 billion dollars. Because the funding is not available, research is severely limited. Insurance is not able to provide full cost for treatments, so most people do not get help. You may personally feel, like many others that you do not want associate with an obese person. This has made life a lot harder for obese people, so social acceptance is not inviting.
This chronic disease can be prevented with support and always watching your weight, even if you are depressed. When you are obese, you have a higher risk in developing conditions such as, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke and a lot more. Obese people tend to blame the environment. Whether it’s eating high calorie foods combined with no physical activity, obese people will not take responsibility.
Maintaining weight loss is extremely difficult for the obese person and they eventually become their own victim. Even though obesity is prevalent among adults it is spreading to younger generations. Children are not aware of what is happening to their body and their parents are ashamed. They do not want to deprive their children of food and do not realize that food maybe slowly killing them. The percentage is rapidly increasing and people need to be more aware of this instead ignoring what is right in front of their face.
Dieting is a problem for obese people and their weight cannot be controlled until they get help.
